🔑 Le Chat’s Agents are specialized assistants you can reuse across chats. You can pair them with tools and knowledge sources to extend their capabilities.
Let’s create your first Agent together.
Open the Agents page
Click Agents in the sidebar to open the Agents page.

Create a new Agent
Click Create an Agent (1) to open the Agent builder.
For this demo, let’s call it My Weather Assistant.
📌 Mistral AI also provides pre-built Agent templates (2) you can customize.
Create a new Agent (1) or start from a template (2)
Configure your Agent
You’ll configure three areas: Main settings, Additional settings, and Knowledge & Tools.
Main settings
Set the basics:
Name — e.g.,
My Weather AssistantAgent’s purpose (optional) — short description, e.g.,
A friendly assistant that tells you the weatherAvatar (optional) — choose from the gallery or generate one
Instructions — e.g.,
You are a friendly weather assistant. Be polite and concise.
💡 Type / in the instructions field to insert Knowledge (Libraries/Connectors) or Tools references (see below ⬇️).
Set name (1), description (2), avatar (3), and core instructions (4)
Choose an avatar from the picker or generate one
Additional settings
Add extra prompts to refine behavior:
Guardrails — boundaries for the Agent (e.g., always use Celsius for temperature)
Tone & Personality — expand
Toneto adjust the style
Configure guardrails and tone/personality for your Agent
🔑 These settings are optional but help fine-tune how your Agent behaves.
Give your Agent knowledge & tools
Open Knowledge to add more capabilities.
Browsing the web, Code interpreter, Canvas or Image Generation — enable one or more tools (1),
Using Libraries — attach a Library, such as the weather data Library we created earlier (2).
Connectors — you can attach one or more Connectors to your Agent (3). Click on the
+button to configure them if needed.
Enable Tools (1), Libraries (2), and Connectors (3)
On the right, use the preview chat to test your Agent and refine instructions.
🔑 All changes are saved automatically. There’s no save button.
Chat with your Agent
You can now use your Agent in any conversation.
Type @ in the message box and select your Agent.
