How do I get le Chat to think through complex problems using Think mode?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Think mode is a new capability in le Chat that allows you to make the assistant reason through complex problems using the chain of thought method.

When activated, le Chat will generate responses powered by Magistral, our first reasoning model, providing a traceable, step-by-step explanation of how it arrived at its answer.

How to use Think mode

1. Activate Think mode

In any le Chat conversation, click on the Think button at the bottom of the chat window to activate the Think mode.

2. Configure optional settings

Once Think mode is active, you have additional options to refine its behavior:

  • Activate Pure Thinking: Enabling the Pure Thinking option (1) prevents le Chat from using any external tools (web search, canvas, etc.), forcing the model to rely solely on its internal reasoning capabilities. This typically produces the best results for tasks like solving complex math problems or generating programming code.

  • Activate Flash Answers: Enable the 10x Speed ⚑️ option (2) to use the Flash answers feature alongside Think mode. This will accelerate the response time by up to 10x, without any trade-off in quality.

🚨 Please note that the Flash Answers feature is a pro feature and usage may be limited depending on your plans. Learn more about it in this dedicated article.

3. Submit your query

With Think mode configured, enter your prompt in the text box and click the Send button to submit your query as you normally would.

4. Review the response and continue

Le Chat will now generate a response, showing its thought process and step-by-step reasoning (1) then provide the final answer (2).
