You can ask le Chat to pull fresh information from the internet and open a page you share.
Let’s see how this works.
1. Activate Web search
If needed, open Tools
(1) and select Web search
(2) to turn it on.
Turn on Web search
from the Tools menu
2. Ask a question
In your conversation, type your question as usual.
For example:
What are the top ten museums to visit in Paris right now?
If it needs up-to-date information, le Chat will decide on its own to browse the web.
💡 You can also force this behavior by adding a phrase like search the web
to your prompt, or invoke the Web search tool yourself by typing /Web search
.
Le Chat’s response, summarized and easy to scan
Notice the “globe” icon (1). It indicates that Web search was used.
🔑 Results are summarized for quick reading (2), and each item links back to its source (3). Click a link to open the original page.
3. Review and verify sources
Use the Sources
button to see every link in one place. You can open items individually to check details.

button at the bottom of the response

📌 Verifiability matters. Web answers always include source links so you can check claims quickly.
4. Search the news
For news, le Chat integrates trusted agencies like AFP (Agence France-Presse) and AP (Associated Press).
Searching AFP for the latest updates
In addition to the “globe” icon (1) used for web search, news results also show a “news” icon (2).
📌 As with web search, you can click the Sources
button to see all links.
5. Open a URL
Sometimes you’ll want to open a specific page to get context.
If you already have a link, paste the URL directly into the chat.
🔑 Whether it is a webpage or a link to an online file, le Chat will open it and answer your question with context.
For example:
Fetch this PDF and summarize the key points:[https://www.ipcc.ch/site/assets/uploads/sites/2/2022/06/SPM_version_report_HR.pdf](https://www.ipcc.ch/site/assets/uploads/sites/2/2022/06/SPM_version_report_HR.pdf)
le Chat opens the page and answers with context
🔑 If a link is behind a login or paywall, download the file and upload it instead for best results. When opening a URL, le Chat fetches only that page (not the entire site).
